Final Thoughts

This has been my first experience with blogging.  I was not entirely certain how I would feel about it all, but I do have to say that it has been a very challenging, yet rewarding experience.  On one hand, I found myself being very mindful of how other people would interpret what I was saying.  I wanted to write about very difficult situations and topics, yet the last thing that I would ever want to do is offend someone or give misinformation.   I hope that I was able to discuss the issues that are prevalent in a way that would get you to think about tough topics.  I think that social problems are everyone’s business, and that they all affect each of us in some way, even if it is indirectly.
I found that through writing each post and reflection that I was constantly being challenged to think more critically about topics.  Sometimes this was easy, and other times this was very difficult.  I feel that I have grown a bit through writing this blog.  It is often easier to not think about difficult issues.  I am grateful for the experience.  I think of the old saying “it takes a village to raise a child”.  Well, I think this can stretch out to include a lot of things.  We are all sharing in very similar issues in life.  Some have it worse off than others, and some have different resources than others.  I hope for a day when we stop seeing things through “us vs. them” eyes, and do what we can to help one another.  We all have just this one planet to share, and what we do to each other, ourselves, and our planet are all interconnected like a web.
